Miley’s journey began in 2022, when she was diagnosed with gastroparesis at 14 years old. Like many others who rely on feeding tubes for daily nutrition, Miley discovered that the standard-issue medical backpacks available were bulky, uncomfortable and drew unwanted attention.
“I felt stigmatized,” Miley shared. “It wasn’t just about carrying my feeding pump; it was about how that backpack made me feel walking through the world.”
Rather than settling for a solution that didn’t serve her, Miley got creative. She handpicked a backpack that was stylish, functional and designed with her needs in mind. With modifications to accommodate her feeding tube equipment, Miley’s new bag gave her comfort, convenience and confidence.
And from that confidence, MileysBags was born.
Miley launched her company to give that same sense of empowerment to others, especially children and teens who may feel self-conscious about their medical equipment. Each bag is carefully chosen for style, modified to fit enteral or TPN equipment, and crafted with care to support both form and function. Since launching, Miley has delivered more than 500 backpacks to children and adults in need.
Plus, her mission doesn’t stop at the product itself. Proceeds from every MileysBags sale are donated to hospitals or Ronald McDonald House. Miley’s hope is to expand her outreach and connect with more patients through platforms like ours. She hopes to offer be a resource for families navigating similar journeys.
